The approach of "why something is happening?"
Constructivism is a research ideology I feel most aligned with when considering how it prompts to inquiry learning. Constructivism is used to build theory which can consider various interpretations of a reality due to the researchers' different experiences and culture influence.
If I took a constructivist approach, I might answer my question, "why is debt the norm to get somewhere?" by interviewing individuals with this experience, collecting qualitative data around the average person achieving or obtaining things allowed by an agreement with debt. While also looking at systems in place that have aided in this experience for people. I would wonder the origin of when "borrowed" money became a trend and made it to the norm of the "American dream" process. I wonder who has an alternative experience and how was it achieved? Did the norm of debt increase as more options in material things were created? Did this lead to the assumption that we needed more things to keep up with the times?

I like your question about debt. It is an interesting topic. I also like the constructivist approach to this topic because money tends to be viewed through a quantitative lens. Your question asks us to consider it through a qualitative lens asking WHY borrow so much.
